Newport City Radio

Newport City Radio is a not-for-profit, community-run station broadcasting 24/7 online, on DAB, and on smart speakers. Powered by 35 volunteers, it focuses on local news, culture, events, and a wide range of music—with a strong emphasis on supporting grassroots talent in Newport and surrounding areas.

The station mentors and trains residents of all backgrounds and abilities, helping them build confidence, skills, and community connections. Its programming includes shows like The Breakfast Shake-Up, Pure Local, The Rock Vault, Pure Country and The Indie Show.

Alongside podcasts and live event coverage, Newport City Radio hosts the annual Love Live Music Awards, & The Summer Sessions and partners with organisations such as Dragons RFC and Maindee Festival to celebrate local voices and creativity.
